Bust out your best costume, slather on the sunscreen, and show off your skimming skills at our Pond Skim Beach Party. Or simply show up and watch the show. After the completion of the pond skim, the party continues with live music at Last Chance Beach Bash. Registration will open roughly one month before the event.
Prizes awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places:
- Best skim, best costume, and best crash
- Ties will be settled by costume scoring.
2025 Awards:
- 1st place: GoPro HERO13 Black, all categories
- 2nd place: Smith goggles
- 3rd place: Backpack
Rules and equipment:
- Competitors are not allowed to use poles. Because we operate in a watershed, we want to avoid puncturing the pool liner.
- Skis and snowboards only.
- No sleds allowed.
To participate (2026):
- Must be 18+ to participate
- $30 entry fee
- Lift ticket/pass required
- Check in at Last Change Lodge, 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
- Must present ID, proof of registration, and sign a waiver at check-in
- Runs will occur in numerical order. Missed runs will be DQ'd
- Competitors can only win 1 category
- No refunds on entry fees
Timeline (2026):
- 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. – check-in/registration
- 12:00 p.m. – event starts
- 2:30 p.m. – event ends
- 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. – Last Chance Beach Bash
- 3:30 p.m. – awards
- 5:00 p.m. – Wasatch Backcountry Rescue fundraiser at The Thirsty Squirrel
