About
The Wasatch Fly Tying & Fly Fishing Expo takes place April 8–10, 2027 in Sandy, Utah. It brings together anglers of all experience levels, fly tyers, instructors, exhibitors, and conservation groups to celebrate and advance the sport of fly fishing.
Event features:
- On-the-water workshops held on Thursday at local fisheries.
- Classroom workshops and casting clinics covering a range of skills and techniques.
- Live fly tying demonstrations and dozens of fly tyers on the show floor.
- Utah’s Iron Fly Competition, where top tyers compete using mystery materials.
There is an Expo Banquet and Hall of Fame Induction on Thursday evening, the night before the main Expo opens. The banquet includes a hosted bar, dinner, and a live auction of premium fly fishing gear. The banquet supports conservation and youth education related to Utah’s fisheries.
Throughout the weekend there are opportunities to meet industry leaders and well-known instructors such as Jack Dennis, Phil Rowley, Brian O’Keefe, Cheech Pierce, Curtis Fry, and many regional favorites.

The event is presented by the Utah chapters of Trout Unlimited and Fly Fishers International, supporting conservation and education in fly fishing.
