Salt Lake Community College, in collaboration with The Consulate of Mexico in Salt Lake City and Artes de México en Utah, presents an awards ceremony and opening reception for the 13th "Sor Juana Spanish Poetry Contest" and the 7th Edition of "LatinArte – Our Roots" art exhibition. We will honor the winners of both contests and celebrate the grand opening of the exhibit at the Center for Arts & Media at SLCC's South City campus.
Exhibition details:
- Twenty-nine local Latinx artists are included in the exhibition at SLCC's George S. & Dolores Dore Eccles Art Gallery.
- Works include painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, and installations.
Awards and recognitions:
- 1st place: $900 USD
- 2nd place: $450 USD
- 3rd place: $250 USD
- 5 honorable mentions
Sor Juana Spanish Poetry Contest:
High school students and adults residing in Utah are given the opportunity to share their voices with the community and be part of a beautiful literary tradition in Utah. Their previously unpublished poems or prose in Spanish will be published in the Sor Juana Poetry Catalog. Winning texts will win awards and be featured in the 2026 Utah Arts Festival and other cultural events in the state.
