After their performance the night before at Peery’s Egyptian Theatre in Ogden, tellers Paul Strickland, Sam Payne, and Mo Reynolds will be back for an encore performance at the Weber State University Davis Stewart Center (2750 University Park Blvd, Layton, UT). Same tellers, same time, NEW STORIES!

7:30 p.m. – Spookier Stories for older kids, teens, and adults
Paul Strickland is a professional storyteller and theatre artist who lives in Kentucky. He has more hours of unique family-friendly stories in his repertoire than he has fingers, including reupholstered folk tales, fairytales for adults and future adults, tall tales, and even historical stories that just happened to have never happened.
Sam Payne hosts The Apple Seed, the award-winning national radio show on the art of storytelling produced by BYUradio, and serves as the Weber State University Storytelling Fellow. He was part of the Peabody-nominated team that created Treasure Island 2020, the serial podcast based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel. He has brought stories and songs to halls in Canada, Bulgaria, Tokyo, and across the United States, including performances at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in the nation’s capital, the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee, and the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival in Lehi, Utah. Sam has authored periodical publications for children with a regular readership of more than a million elementary school students, and has written books and stage pieces including Sanctuary: The Story of Zion for the centennial of the National Parks Service, Echoes of Hammers and Spikes (with Suzanne Christensen) for the sesquicentennial of the completion of the first transcontinental railroad, and One of a Million Stars, commemorating the 14-year mission of the Mars rover Opportunity.

Since charming audiences at Exchange Place at the National Storytelling Festival in 2022, she has returned to perform at the festival twice more and has been featured at many other festivals around the country. Her unique approach creates stories with both humor and heart.
