Sunset Cinema at Red Butte Garden
Location
About
There's no better way to ring in the new semester than a movie night at Red Butte Garden after the sun goes down. Join us for our third annual Sunset Cinema for free popcorn, a plant giveaway, a Garden-wide scavenger hunt, and more!
As the sun sets, spread out your blanket for an exclusive screening of Drops of Life, a new film from Denver Botanic Gardens that explores one of the West's most precious resources: water. You'll have the chance to see this thought-provoking documentary before its wider release.
Plants are available while supplies last, so come early, and be sure to arrive at the Red Butte Garden & Arboretum Visitor Center before 8pm for the complete experience.
Events are held at the Visitor Center Courtyard & Four Seasons Lawn. Please enter through the Red Butte Garden & Arboretum Visitor Center main entrance.
- 6:30pm: Plant Giveaway (while supplies last)
- 6:30-8pm: Garden-wide Scavenger Hunt
- 7:45pm: Free popcorn & beverage stations
- 8-9:30pm: Drops of Life movie screening
The Ice Cream Social food truck will also be on site selling ice cream all night!
It gets chilly at night—bring your blankets and a jacket. The Garden is located at the mouth of Red Butte Canyon and even on the warmest days it will get breezy at night, so layer up.
Campus shuttles will run loops from Peterson Heritage Center and Kahlert Village to Red Butte Garden from 5:30 to 10:30pm.
Welcome, Students! Red Butte Garden and Arboretum is your campus back yard. Discover 100 acres of flowers, trees, and trails right outside your door. University of Utah students, faculty, and staff enjoy free admission with UCard year-round.
Special thanks to Charisma Event Productions for supporting Sunset Cinema. We are excited to be a part of University of Utah's Weeks of Welcome.
