Meet the Artist Reception
Meet Linda Dalton Walker and learn more about her art on Saturday, September 12, 2-5pm.
Wildlife and nature photographer Linda Dalton Walker jokes about being born with a camera in her hand. In 2024, she was awarded Highly Commended by Bird Photographer of the Year, and in that same year was internationally published by Conker Magazine (UK). Linda strives to bring awareness to issues surrounding wildlife. One of the major issues she is photographing and documenting is the Great Salt Lake.
Dalton grew up in the arms of the Great Salt Lake, floating in the salty water with her siblings and building sandcastles in the sand. Over the past twenty years, her lens has been directed toward the Great Salt Lake and the winged wonders who rely upon this great, salty body of water. Through her photography, she hopes to raise awareness about the environmental consequences and impacts now affecting the fragile ecosystem of this inland sea.
In this exhibit, you will find intimate images of the Great Salt Lake and the birds who frequent the lake and the surrounding wetlands. Dalton captured these photographs by walking through mud, shallow waters, and dried shores; careening in an airboat; and flying over the GSL and adjoining wetlands in a Cessna. If you happen upon Linda at a wetland, you would find her sitting on a tiny stool or on the ground, often lying prone, patiently waiting for the perfect image.
