About
This presentation focuses on General Burgoyne’s strategy to capture Albany, NY, with a three-pronged attack in 1777: east down the Mohawk from Fort Niagara, south from Canada down Lake Champlain and the Hudson, and north from New York City up the Hudson. Capturing Albany would split the country, blocking New England from the other states.
The talk will discuss the strategies employed by both sides, their successes and failures, and the actions leading to the American victory at Saratoga. This was the turning point of the war, as it led directly to French intervention in the conflict.
