About
The Irish American Heritage Museum is honored to bring Irish singer-songwriter Gráinne Hunt to Albany’s intimate Flanagan Theater.
Gráinne Hunt — described as having "a voice like complex coffee" — blends raw emotion with a quiet, commanding power. Performing as a duo with San Diego’s Jules Stewart on drums and vocals, the pair create a sound compared to The Indigo Girls and Brandi Carlile: rich harmonies, heartfelt stories, and magnetic onstage chemistry.
"The Irish Joni." — Michael Londra
Gráinne's two original records and new live EP draw from deeply personal experiences, weaving stories of pain, longing and joy. She has earned comparisons to Tracy Chapman and Natalie Merchant.
"…an astounding voice that will melt your heart. No crowd can resist." — Declan O’Rourke
Her reputation as a powerhouse performer has landed her on stages alongside Glen Hansard and U2, with opening slots for Gladys Knight and Mary Black. After showcasing at Folk Alliance International in 2024, Gráinne secured an 0-1 Visa to cement her presence stateside. She kicked off 2025 showcasing at Celtic Connections. She returns to the US in August, and launches her new show ‘Queer Arrivals’ at Liverpool Irish Festival in Oct 2025.
Beyond her solo work, Gráinne collaborates with award-winning guitarist Brendan Walsh on Songs from Ireland and with Hibsen, a literary folk project that wrote an album based on James Joyce’s "Dubliners".
"The hardest working woman in Irish music." — Glen Hansard
