Out of the Gilded Cage: Ladies of the Gilded Age

Experience history first-hand with a visit from Historic Interpreter Phyllis Chapman of Vintage Visitor Presentations, performing as Nellie Bly, “the stunt girl reporter,” in Out of the Gilded Cage: Ladies of the Gilded Age.

Women of the Gilded Age were rich enough not to have a care in the world—but care, they did. Far from being solely concerned with fashion and parties, many socialites of the late 19th and early 20th centuries broke out of the “cage” of propriety to become businesswomen, civic leaders, philanthropists, and suffragists. Hear Nellie Bly, the stunt girl reporter for the New York World, tell the stories of remarkable women who made life better for themselves and many others.

Tickets are $20 per attendee.
