Maggie’s Wake is a Canadian, female-fronted roots band bringing the rich history of folk music to life in a contemporary way. Their original songs draw on traditional folk and classic country, enhanced by Celtic instrumentation for a sound that is both classic and modern.
The band features award-winning songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tara Dunphy (The Rizdales, Luther Wright and the Wrongs) on lead vocals, tin whistle, flute, and fiddle, and award-winning, internationally recognized Lindsay Schindler (Rant Maggie Rant, Trent Severn) on fiddle/violin and harmony vocals. Their band includes Andrew Kosty on upright and electric bass and Ken Palmer on acoustic and electric guitar. Frequent guests Dean Harrison plays piano and accordion, and Stephan Szczesniak plays percussion.
After playing sold-out theatres and concert halls, Maggie’s Wake released their self-titled debut album worldwide in March 2024 to critical acclaim. They performed as Official Showcase Artists at the 2024 Folk Alliance and North Eastern Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) conferences, and were nominated for Best New/Emerging Artist at the 2025 Canadian Folk Music Awards.
