ICFS presents Tsui Hark and Ching Siu-tung’s A Chinese Ghost Story (1987)

A timid travelling debt collector finds himself with no other choice but to shelter for a night in a haunted temple. He meets and falls in love with a beautiful woman there, who — unfortunately — is quite dead. With the aid of a powerful Daoist Swordsman, he must defeat undead hordes, overcome a sinister Tree Demoness, and descend to the pits of hell, to fight for the ghostly spirit that he loves. Starring two of Hong Kong’s most beloved actors, Leslie Cheung ("Bride with White Hair") and Joey Wang ("God of Gamblers"), "Chinese Ghost Story" was helmed by the legendary Ching Siu-tung ("Swordsman II;" "Hero; Duel to the Death") under the artistic gaze (and thumb) of producer Tsui Hark.
