About

This hands-on workshop focuses on the history and use of chocolate in Colonial New York. Using historic recipes, ingredients, and techniques from the 17th and 18th centuries, participants will prepare two different chocolate treats over the hearth fire and may take a fun tart confection home.

Participants are invited to bring lunch for the break to enjoy in front of a roaring fire. The workshop will take place in Crailo’s hearth kitchen and will be led by Erin Czernecki, a local historian with 13 years of research, training, and hearth cooking experience. She has attended workshops in hearth cooking at Genesee Country Village & Museum and Historic Deerfield and has done historic food demonstrations at historic sites and conferences.
