Live From Upstate
Only appearance in the region! Composer Claudio Simonetti has written and recorded some of the most influential horror soundtracks, including Suspiria, Dawn of the Dead, Deep Red, and many others. This year, Simonetti’s Goblin celebrates Dario Argento’s critically acclaimed classic with a live performance of the score set to a screening of the film. Following the movie’s finale, the collective will return after a brief intermission to play quintessential Goblin material and “best of” songs and scores set to their cinematic counterparts.
Tenebre is a darkly humorous and notoriously grisly murder mystery that many consider to be among Argento’s best giallos. It’s about a successful crime writer who arrives in Rome to promote his new book, an event that triggers a trail of bloody murders in the manner described in his book. As the mystery surrounding the killings spirals out of control, Neal investigates the crimes on his own, leading to a mind-bending conclusion. (dir. Dario Argento, Italy, 1982, 110 min.)
