Bright Series: Bronwyn

If you love bluegrass played with breathtaking skill, a little edge and the kind of energy that makes a room come alive, Bronwyn is one to see.

A Grammy winner and two-time IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year, Bronwyn is a dazzling instrumentalist, but this show is about much more than virtuoso fiddle playing. Backed by a powerhouse band of Nashville pickers, she brings together hard-driving bluegrass, Americana and roots music with original songs, strong vocals and the exhilarating interplay of musicians who know how to push each other.

Her new album, Rattlin’ Bones, captures the sound of an artist stepping fully into her own. After years as a sought-after fiddler and a member of Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Bronwyn is now out front as singer, songwriter and bandleader, making music that feels rooted in bluegrass tradition without being confined by it.

Expect fiery fiddle breaks, lightning-fast picking, beautiful ensemble playing and quieter moments when the song takes over. There’s plenty here for serious bluegrass fans to marvel at, but you don’t need to know a thing about bluegrass to get swept up in it.

Bronwyn says she wanted to make music “that you’d want to turn up so loud, that it’d rattle your bones.” Come hear what she means.

The Bright Series is made possible by a generous gift from Kevin & Claudia Bright. These monthly shows feature artists playing the venue for the first time: fresh, contemporary roots-based bands making waves on the national folk scene.
