Mark Cosgrove & Good Medicine bring a mix of bluegrass, Americana, country, roots music, and swampy blues to Caffè Lena, with dazzling musicianship, terrific vocals, and plenty of personality.
At the center is Mark Cosgrove, a National Flatpicking Championship and Doc Watson Guitar Championship winner. He has performed alongside David Bromberg for years. Bromberg says, “Mark Cosgrove uses a flat pick the way I've always wanted to do myself, and that's just the beginning. It's a privilege to play with him.”
The band also features fiddler Nate Grower, a veteran of David Bromberg's Quintet and Big Band; Mike Munford, an International Bluegrass Music Association Banjo Player of the Year; Berklee-trained bassist Nate Sabat; and guitarist and vocalist Jon Sheldrick.
Together, they move between bluegrass favorites, rootsy Americana, country, and blues, with the kind of interplay that comes from musicians who are not only masters of their instruments but genuinely enjoy playing together. Expect lightning-fast picking, beautiful harmonies, unexpected musical turns, and a whole lot of fun.
