Racquette River Rounders Annual Boxing Day Reunion Show

Celebrate Boxing Day with the Raquette River Rounders, bringing great picking, old favorites and decades of musical friendship to Caffè Lena.

Guitarist Danny Gotham and singer-songwriter John Kribs first joined forces with the late bassist Michael Hadfield in the late 1970s, creating an eclectic North Country string band that never paid much attention to musical boundaries. Traditional reels and jigs might rub shoulders with old country, swing and blues, followed by Fats Waller, Elvis Presley or one of their own songs. The Rounders toured extensively, made two albums for Adirondack Records and built a devoted following before officially going their separate ways in the early 1980s.

Year after year, the Rounders have found their way back to Caffè Lena for their annual Boxing Day Reunion Show on December 26, gathering old friends, longtime fans and newcomers. Danny Gotham is a master flatpicker and fingerpicker who took second place in the National Fingerpicking Guitar Championship in Winfield, Kansas, and has performed with artists including Tom Paxton and Peter Ostroushko. John Kribs has spent nearly six decades making music, from the Northeast coffeehouse circuit and the Rounders to Johnny & The Triumphs and beyond, writing and performing a wide range of American roots music.

What brings them back together is simpler than all those credentials: these guys love playing music together. Expect great picking, songs you haven't heard in years, songs you didn't know you needed to hear, plenty of stories and the easy chemistry of a musical friendship stretching back nearly half a century.
