66th Anniversary Night: True Stories From the Early Days at America's Longest Running Coffeehouse
A lot can happen in 66 years! Some of the things that have happened at Caffe Lena are inspiring, or side-splittingly funny, or just soooo typical of the way things were back in the ‘60s and ‘70s. These stories live in the memories of the performers, the regulars, and those who helped Lena behind the scenes.
Tonight we’re going to hear these stories first-hand, and we’re going to record them for posterity. Because Caffe Lena is a national treasure, and this venue’s story needs to live forever.
You’ll learn about the day in 1959 when Lena and her husband first saw the disused space that would become their Caffe, Bob Dylan’s real relationship with Lena and the venue, the unusual way Lena booked her performers, and much more.
