Chronicle the development of the famous B-29 bomber and the immense difficulties in getting this "super fortress" into operational status.

Meet Helen Dortch Longstreet, a worker in the B-29 bomber war plant who, at the age of 80, became the best riveter in the plant. In addition to Helen, hear the stories about many of the women who served in World War II.

The presentation will discuss the B-29's role in the only two atomic bomb raids in history. Hear how one man on the second atomic bomb run changed the course of history with three words.

Join Ron Grabriele as he delves into the history of the B-29 bomber and the role women played in its development.

Ron Grabriele, over the last ten years, has shared his love of history with audiences around the Mid-Hudson Valley. He has spoken on a variety of historical subjects from pop history (the history of Western movies and Old Time Radio) to deeply serious subjects such as Pearl Harbor and the history of War Dogs.

Reasonable accommodations are available by request. Please contact the library directly.
