About

Rescheduled from 11/18.

Award-winning journalist and SU graduate Jeanne Albanese shares the story behind the honest, gritty and ultimately joyful memoir, Woman On the Run: 6,000 Miles That Saved My Life. In her book, Albanese chronicles Susan Carpenito Heard’s journey of healing, resilience and renewed hope through life’s darkest times. The book is for those seeking purpose, recovering from loss or looking for a spark to begin their own transformative journey.

Learn about Susan’s story and the story behind the story: why Jeanne thought it would make a great book and how it came to life. Her talk will include tips for aspiring writers and family historians.

Jeanne Albanese grew up in Staten Island, N.Y., and attended Syracuse University, earning degrees in newspaper journalism and English and textual studies while working long nights at The Daily Orange. She later earned a master’s in magazine journalism while working at the Syracuse Post-Standard. She spent most of her career as a sports writer, and also worked in news and features. Her journalism won local, state and national awards, and her work was listed under Notable Writing in Best American Sportswriting.
