Intro to Breadboarding: Make Electronic Circuits without Soldering
November 14th, 1:00–4:00pm
Instructor: Richard St. Pierre
Discover the world of electronics and circuits in this hands-on beginner course. Learn about electronic components—including LEDs, resistors, capacitors, transistors, and integrated circuits—and use them to create circuits on a solderless breadboard.
Students will learn how to turn a schematic diagram into a working circuit, make wiring connections, and identify the characteristics of components and how to choose them. Breadboarding lets you prototype and tune circuits for learning or in preparation for making a printed circuit board.
In a guided project, students will build an “LEDs dancing to music” circuit. The class will also introduce the classic 555 timer integrated circuit, a simple building block for applications such as blinking LEDs, timers, and alarm sounds.
By the end of the class, students will have the skills and confidence to find circuit schematics online and build working prototypes.
