Artist’s Reception: Laura Von Rosk “My Backyard”
Location
Lake George, NY— This event may happen at various locations in the city.
About
Join the Lake George Arts Project at the Courthouse Gallery on November 7 to celebrate the opening of My Backyard, a multimedia installation by Laura Von Rosk. The opening reception is an opportunity to meet the artists, discuss their creative processes, and mingle with fellow members of the regional arts community. Light refreshments will be served.
The Courthouse Gallery presents My Backyard, a solo exhibition of paintings by Laura Von Rosk, including works from several recent series in which natural and manmade structures are the main compositional elements. Shape and placement add a sense of character to the subjects and the surrounding landscape. In the artist’s words: “Using both visual recall and invented forms, I aim to create an atmospheric space that recalls a memory of a place or event. Paintings shift in meaning over time, transforming into something unexpected, and often carrying multiple, even contradictory, meanings.”
The exhibition is on display November 6 through December 12.
Gallery hours: Wednesday through Friday, 12:00 PM–5:00 PM, and Saturday, 12:00 PM–4:00 PM.
The Courthouse Gallery is at the side entrance of the historic Old County Courthouse, on the corner of Canada and Amherst Streets in Lake George Village. All exhibitions and receptions are free and accessible to all.
