About

Scenes from the Glittering World

Three Indigenous youth come of age on the fringes of the Navajo Nation. A meditation on adolescence, trauma, and the power of connecting with a homeland.

Filmed at the most remote high school in the continental United States, at the farthest edge of the Navajo Nation, the film shares the stories of Indigenous youth as they grapple with ambitious dreams, family responsibilities, and the isolated nature of their community, while the school itself faces questions about its purpose and future.

Glittering World (also known as the Fourth World or Nihalgai) is the present world in the Diné creation story.

Due to the film’s length, the screening will begin promptly at 6pm. Many documentaries are unrated and may not be suitable for teens. No registration needed; join us in the Meeting Room.

Lens & Learn meets every other month for a documentary. The next screening will be in January.
