DCxPC Live and Rat Milk Collective Presents: Urban Waste, YDI, Life Abuse, Half Dizzy and Diminished Returns

DCxPC Live and Rat Milk Collective are bringing a killer mix of punk and hardcore to Night Swim on Sunday, November 15. We’ve got some serious history on this one, a couple of bands with DCxPC Live releases, and the very first show from Diminished Returns.

Urban Waste helped shape the first wave of New York hardcore, coming out of Queens with a raw, confrontational sound captured on their classic 1982 self-titled EP. More than four decades later, they’re still active, playing shows in the U.S. and abroad. Their recent releases include a split live album with Soji through DCxPC Live, recorded during their 2024 run with MDC.

YDI, pronounced “Why Die,” helped put Philadelphia hardcore on the map in the early ’80s with the furious nine-song EP A Place in the Sun, followed by the heavier, metallic punk of Black Dust.

Half Dizzy brings Long Island punk rock that mixes ’90s skate-punk influences with ska rhythms, hardcore bite, and big singalong choruses. They also released a split live album with ChumHuffer through DCxPC Live, with their side recorded at Mr. Beery’s in Bethpage.

Life Abuse delivers crust-driven hardcore with a metallic edge from New York’s Capital District, featuring musicians who have played in Limp Wrist, Self Defense Family, Male Patterns, and other underground punk and hardcore bands.

Diminished Returns makes its live debut with fast, ’80s-inspired hardcore punk from the Hudson Valley, featuring Scott of DCxPC Live, Ian of Mearth, Danny of Good Blasphemy, and Kevin of Tiger Piss.
