Young artists will become character designers as they build a cast of unique stick puppets! Utilizing a rich "sensory buffet" of tactile materials, students will layer sturdy cardboard bases with textured papers, colorful fabrics, yarn, and other embellishments to bring multiple distinct personalities to life. This session emphasizes open-ended process, hand-tearing, and mixed-media collage rather than copying a rigid model. Every student will leave the studio with several completed, fully unique puppets ready for play and theater.

Ingrid is a Hudson Valley-based mixed-media artist, educator, and a mother to a thirteen-year-old daughter. Having exhibited her own fine art through the region, Ingrid brings a deep knowledge of materials to her teaching, emphasizing process, sensory exploration, and the joy of tactile creation. Her approach to youth programming is rooted in her early days as a camp counselor, prioritizing an inclusive, supportive studio environment where every student feels seen, safe, and capable of confident self-expression and artistic exploration.
