About
After thriving as a sideman musician in New York City for several years, songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist Andy Stack headed north on a whim to the Hudson Valley and founded Buffalo Stack and Buffalo Stack Productions.
Andy brings his command of American roots music, knowledge of Irish folk traditions, and modern musical sensibilities to Buffalo Stack. Influences from Chicago, the Delta, New Orleans, and New York City all find their way into the mix. He culls deep cuts for material, improvises solos, and leads the band through a dynamic set of original songs and carefully selected covers. The band performs in formations ranging from a duo to a big band with a horn section and background singers.
Andy is also a sought-after sideman. His recent work includes Girl From the North Country on Broadway, Yola, and the Cosmic Orchestra, backing national acts monthly.
As a producer, Andy has produced albums for singer-songwriters and bands across a range of styles. His productions have been heard on national and international TV and radio, and his work on Jonah Smith’s “Stay Close,” recorded live to analog tape at Buffalo Stack Productions, won an indie music award.
From driving bluegrass rhythms to breezy island melodies, Will Proper plays what he loves. Growing up along the Hudson River in Athens, New York, he started playing guitar at 14, fell in love with music, and got hooked on songwriting. He began singing in a high school southern rock band. These days, his set is full of musical curve balls: Doc Watson-inspired country and bluegrass flatpicking, James Taylor-esque acoustic fingerstyle, Bob Marley-flavored reggae rhythms, and everything in between.
