Art After Hours | Member Mixer | Finding Hygge

Art After Hours mixes art and entertainment every third Thursday of the month. Visit exhibitions, create art, and socialize with friends.

Hyde Members plus a guest and the general public are invited to the Member Mixer on Nov. 19 from 5 to 8 pm. Mingle with fellow members, view the special exhibitions, and enjoy light refreshments. Hyde members can also enjoy a 20% discount on Museum shop items.

From 4:30 to 6 pm, Kayla Sehlmeyer from Grounded on Glen Street will bring The Mobile Meditation Studio and host 20-minute meditation sessions. Using sandbags, weighted blankets, and sound, participants will sink into relaxation and regulation.

The Mobile Meditation Studio was created to meet people where they are, bringing restorative wellness directly into the community and making mental and emotional support more accessible, approachable, and immediate.

As part of the exploration of Scandinavian culture, the documentary Finding Hygge illuminates the history and modern expressions of this buzz word. Hygge, the Danish art of creating joy and coziness in life’s everyday moments, has exploded in popularity amidst growing division and distrust around the world. But finding hygge in one’s own life can be more complicated than it seems. This globe-trotting film presents a surprising, funny, and often philosophical collection of characters who share the meaning of hygge and how to find happiness.

These programs are related to the exhibition Scandinavian Home, on view Nov. 7, 2026, through Feb. 28, 2027.
