Flute and cello duo Duo Envol lead a guided exploration of music and its connection to visual media. Using famous examples and playing along with video clips from Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park, K-Pop Demon Hunters, Harry Potter, A Christmas Story, and more, the duo explores the emotional impact of music.
The duo will perform Cumulus Reverie, a piece commissioned for flute and cello, followed by a screening of Tiny Planet LLC’s animated video set to the piece. The workshop culminates with a creative exploration translating audio into visual art.
Duo Envol features Melanie Chirignan on flute and Laura Melnicoff on cello. Neighbors in New York’s Capital Region, they share a passion for undiscovered musical gems, unique performance venues, and the local natural landscape. They can often be found playing music with themes of nature. “Envol” is French for “flight” and “soaring,” and they invite you to join them on their travels.
