About
The Northern Campaign of 1777 during the American Revolutionary War was the most decisive turning point of the conflict. This American victory stretched across a vast area and involved soldiers and warriors from America, Britain, Germany, and Native American peoples. Ultimately, the British army was forced to surrender on the banks of the Hudson River in upstate New York, changing the course of the war and securing independence for the new United States.
Eric Schnitzer has been an interpreter and historian at Saratoga National Historical Park for more than 20 years and is currently listed as an Interpretative Ranger and Park Historian. Earlier in 2019, he collaborated with a celebrated military history artist to publish the richly illustrated Don Troiani’s Campaign to Saratoga –1777.
This series is produced by the Folklife Center at Crandall Public Library and made possible with major funding from the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership, with additional support from the New York State Council on the Arts.
