Opening of “Benjamin Franklin was Here, 1776”
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Chapman. Free admission for all.
Join us for the opening of “Benjamin Franklin was Here, 1776”! Our summer exhibition explores Benjamin Franklin and a lesser-known chapter of the Revolution: his 1776 journey to Montreal to rally support for the American cause. Along the way, Franklin passed through the upper Hudson Valley, including an overnight stay in present-day Glens Falls. By tracing this journey, the exhibition connects our region to a pivotal national moment and reflects on how the ideals of 1776 still shape the nation today.
Celebrate with free admission all day. Activities include:
- Light refreshments
- Family crafts
- Colonial lawn games (weather permitting)
- Storytime at 11:30 a.m. featuring Benjamin Franklin Was Here, the Chapman Museum’s newest book starring Zopher the Mouse
- Meet-and-greet with Benjamin Franklin from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
