The Cinema Club presents: Young Frankenstein (1974)

A true work of comedic genius parodying the classic horror films Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein. When Frederick Frankenstein learns that he is heir to the castle of his grandfather, the infamous mad scientist Victor Frankenstein, he travels to Transylvania to take up residence there. Having spent his life trying to distance himself from his grandfather’s legacy, he decides to follow in his footsteps after finding his secret laboratory and his journal entitled “How I Did It.”

Co-written by Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder, directed by Brooks and starring Wilder in the title role with co-stars Teri Garr, Cloris Leachman, Marty Feldman, Madeline Kahn, Kenneth Mars, Peter Boyle, and Gene Hackman. The performances are all brilliant.

Young Frankenstein is truly one of the funniest movies ever made.

The Rosendale Theatre’s programs are made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
