Training: Winter Raptor Survey
The Winter Raptor Survey, conducted at Five Rivers each winter, is part of a Northeastern U.S. community science project to monitor winter feeding areas of endangered and threatened raptor species. Volunteers meet once or twice a month and spend an hour around sunset scanning for and recording raptor species on Five Rivers’ grasslands. You do not have to attend every session, but you will need your own binoculars. Study dates are subject to change due to weather conditions. Dress warmly!
Join us for training from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., followed by an outdoor survey from approximately 4:30 to 5:00 p.m. Tentative additional outdoor survey dates are December 29, January 13, and 27. Other dates will be announced as they are added.
Registration is required. Call 518-475-0291 to register or for more information.
