About

Còig returns to Hubbard Hall!

Admission: $30 adults / $15 students 21 and under.

Còig is an Atlantic Canadian Celtic traditional group made up of multi-instrumentalists Rachel McMullen, Darren McMullen, Thierry Clouette and Margie Beaton. With a fiery, high-energy Celtic style, Còig shifts between century-old tunes and original compositions, featuring more than a dozen instruments, including vocals, fiddles, piano, guitars, banjo, mandolin, viola, bouzouki and whistles.

The group combines traditional backgrounds with a range of individual influences. Fiddler and singer Rachel McMullen describes it as “an interesting mix.”

The Cape Breton quartet has earned audience acclaim around the world. Their recordings include “Rove” (2017), “Carols” (2015) and “Five” (2014), and have received a Canadian Folk Music Award, a JUNO Award nomination, and multiple East Coast Music Awards and Music Nova Scotia Awards.

The best in trad music, in a non-traditional way. That’s Còig.
