About

The Rollin’ Rust is a Central New York–based folk-rock band led by singer-songwriter James VanDeuson, blending blues, bluegrass, roots, folk, and country into a sound that feels both vintage and vividly original.

Formed in 2021, the band—James VanDeuson, Jim Hearn (guitar), Kyle Dennis (drums/vocals), and Nash Robb (bass/vocals)—has played major festivals across 25+ states and shared stages with artists like CAAMP, The Black Crowes, Sam Bush, Sierra Hull, and The Wood Brothers. They’ve supported Brandy Clark, Donna the Buffalo, Ryan Montbleau Band, and more, and in 2024 won Borderland Music Festival’s “Battle of the Borderland.” Their debut album Road Rats was nominated for Best Americana Album at the SAMMY Awards.

With tight performances, strong camaraderie, and vivid songwriting, The Rollin’ Rust continues to leave a lasting mark wherever they play.
