As part of our Plein Air Festival, The Hyde is excited to offer a youth educational opportunity! Plein air painting provides an enriched environment for outdoor painters, improving one’s appreciation of the outdoor world through art. Many plein air painters are inspired by the effects of changing light, the shapes of hills and mountains and the color of spring and fall foliage.
Participants will create two oil pastel paintings of a landscape selected from familiar natural environments, such as a park, garden, or other area of nature. Color schemes, textures, and methods of oil pastel application will be addressed. For a more personal painting, bring your own inspirational photographs that depict different landscapes. All supplies and materials will be provided.
