Michael Benedict Jazz Vibes is led by acclaimed vibraphonist Michael Benedict, a cornerstone of the Capital District jazz scene for over 20 years. With its mellow, resonant tone, the vibraphone—visually akin to the xylophone—holds a distinctive place in jazz, and Benedict has made it his signature voice.
Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam and a master’s degree in jazz studies from Rutgers University. His career has taken him across the United States, performing in concert halls, colleges, clubs and festivals—as well as internationally in Europe and Africa.
He has released six albums, with his 2015 release "Circulation" earning a spot on NPR’s Best Jazz Albums of the Year list. Michael has received multiple accolades for his work, including two nominations for Best Jazz Artist of the Year from the Capital Region Thomas Edison Music Awards (The Eddies). He was named Best Jazz Musician of the Year in 2023 by WCDB Radio, SUNY Albany (90.9 FM).
