About

April 18, 2026 — 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm

In the spirit of Continuing the Journey, the Brigham City Museum staff will be leading a trip to the Minidoka National Historic Site in Jerome County, Idaho on April 18, 2026. Although little remains of the barbed-wire fences and tar-papered barracks, the Minidoka concentration camp once held over 13,000 Japanese Americans in the Idaho desert.

We will be carpooling to the site. When registering, please make sure to fill out how you are planning to travel to the site. If you need a ride, mark that on the form so we can arrange a ride for you. It is a 2–2.5 hour drive to the site.

Parking:
- Visitor Center parking lot, 1428 Hunt Rd, Jerome, ID 83338.

Schedule (approximate):
- Upon arrival, explore the visitor center and read the exhibits.
- Watch a short, 30-minute film, "Minidoka: An American Concentration Camp" (available on the Minidoka National Historic Site website if you would like to watch it before our visit).
- Group will gather and be led by a ranger on a 1–1.5 hour tour. This is a half-mile walking tour along dirt and gravel trails. Visitors will be allowed inside two different historic buildings during the tour. The tour may include the use of stairs and walking on uneven terrain.
- In total, we will be spending around 2–2.5 hours at the site.

While we welcome everyone on this trip, it is not recommended for small children. Please do what works best for your family.

Registration and cost:
- This is a FREE program, however, in order to participate in the tour and gain access to the visitor center, you must register. When registering, indicate your travel plans and whether you need a ride.

Accessibility:
