In honor of their father, Greg and Dan Marshall are teaming up to talk about their memoirs, Leg and Home is Burning, and raise money for the neurology clinic at the University of Utah and Brain Food Books. Tickets for this event are $5 and all proceeds will be donated. If you cannot make this event, signed copies may be ordered from our website or by calling the store at 801-484-9100.

About the authors:

  • Greg Marshall — Greg Marshall’s memoir Leg is about growing up gay with cerebral palsy in Holladay, Utah. Leg was named a best book of the year by the Washington Post and the Texas Observer and was a finalist for the Randy Shilts Award and a Lambda Literary Award. Greg is a graduate of the Michener Center for Writers and the recipient of a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. He lives in Austin with his son, his dog, and his husband, the novelist Lucas Schaefer. Lucas Schaefer's debut novel, The Slip, won the 2025 Kirkus Prize for fiction and was named one of the New York Times Book Review's 100 Notable Books of 2025.
  • Dan Marshall — Dan Marshall is a screenwriter and memoirist who grew up in Salt Lake City. His memoir, Home is Burning, about caring for his father while he battled Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS), was published by Macmillan. New Line purchased the rights and Dan adapted the screenplay with Miles Teller attached to star. Dan has recently written for Adam Sandler at Netflix, and is in pre-production on a movie with Jason Bateman at Aggregate Films. His podcast, Peter Pan Man Dan, explores the ups and downs of becoming a parent.
