About
Dogs on Shady Lane is a Brooklyn-via-Providence indie rock band blending indie folk and slow-core, with inspiration from artists including Big Thief, Sylvan Esso, and Feist. Songwriter and guitarist Tori Hall began the project in 2018 as a solo project with changing arrangements and rotating collaborators. Through the Providence music scene, DIY touring with different musicians at every show, and the music scene at SUNY Purchase, the project has had many past lives.
The core lineup now includes longtime bandmate Evan Weinstein (guitar, synth, vocals), Calder Mansfield (bass, vocals), and Grace Goss (drums). Hall maintains the writing and creative freedom of a solo project, while the full band brings the songs to life through collaborative arrangement. The four-piece band plays in both the Rhode Island and New York scenes, creating a dynamic yet intimate live show.
After gaining attention with the 2022 single “Cole St.,” Dogs on Shady Lane released the EP “The Knife” in 2024 on Lauren Records. The debut EP introduced a heavier, guitar-driven sound not heard in earlier singles. Since then, the band has played festivals including SXSW and Treefort Fest, where they opened for This Is Lorelei and Star Cleaner Reunion. The band has also spent time in the studio and is set to release its debut full-length album, “Knots,” in fall 2026. The eight-song album highlights the project’s evolution, bringing together its harmony-fueled acoustic side with the heavy guitar and synth sounds heard in “The Knife.” It is a culmination of what the project has been working toward over the past five-plus years.
Slow Caves is a rock band from Colorado, consisting of Danish-American brothers Jakob and Oliver Mueller and their childhood friend David Dugan. After signing with Old Flame Records in 2016, they released their debut EP, “Desert Minded,” in early 2017. The following year, they released the double A-side picture disc “Poser/Rover.”
The band spent the next three years touring extensively, opening for bands including Third Eye Blind, Briston Maroney, Cold War Kids, Modest Mouse, Matt & Kim, Cake, Rooney, DIIV, and The Kills. They also performed at festivals including SXSW, Velorama, The Underground Music Showcase, and Treefort Music Fest. In 2019, they released their first full-length record, “Falling,” recorded and produced by Chris “Frenchie” Smith at The Bubble in Austin, Texas.
From 2020 to 2023, the band released two singles, “Walk In The Park” and “Before I Leave,” and took time off from live performances. In 2024, Ben Eberle joined on drums, the band released a new EP, “Tension,” and returned to live performances nationwide. They released two more singles in 2025 and are currently recording their second full-length album.
