Initially formed in 2002 as a studio project by Chrigel Glanzmann, ELUVEITIE blended Gothenburg-style melodic death metal with ancient folk melodies and themes, helping create what became known as the “New Wave Of Folk Metal.” They have since become the most successful Swiss metal act to date.

Their fifth studio album, »Helvetios« (2012), was followed by the anniversary compilation »The Early Years«. The band toured internationally in support of »Helvetios«, and the album charted in the US, Switzerland, Canada, Germany, and Austria.

The band's lineup includes guitarist Rafael Salzmann and violinist Nicole Ansperger. ELUVEITIE won the 'Best Live Act National' category at the Swiss Music Awards, becoming the first metal band to receive an award there. They later recorded their sixth studio album, »Origins«, with producer Tommy Vetterli. The album explores Celtic mythology, particularly aetiological tales from Gaul. Chrigel Glanzmann created the artwork, based on the hammer- or club-shaped halo of Sucellos.
