Ben Goldberg, known by his stage name Token, grew up north of Boston, MA. He was introduced to hip-hop at a young age and began writing poetry at 6. At 10, he started setting his lyrics to melodies and recording them as rap. What began as an outlet for expression soon became his passion, and he continued developing his craft as Token.
Token began building a fanbase at 14 by posting rap videos online. By 16, he had won multiple online rap contests and earned over a million YouTube views. He performed around New England, and two videos went viral on Facebook, accumulating 6 million views. After turning 17, he released a video that reached 500,000 YouTube views in three days and later passed one million. His supporters include T-Pain, Fred Durst, Clinton Sparks, RA the Rugged Man, and Mark Wahlberg, who called Token his “new favorite rapper.”
