The Mad Chick Magnets are somewhat outcasts in the current punk-rock scene, which has trended toward grindcore and metal. When Ace Stranger (vocals) noticed this nationwide trend, he wanted to take the sound back to its roots. To his surprise, there were like-minded people when he moved to Salt Lake City to be with his girlfriend Rosey Lynx (bass).
Starting in 2024, after lacking steady bandmates, they finally met their match. Beaux Garter (guitar) and Diamond (drums) heard about MCM through the grapevine and impressed Ace and Rosey with their talent.
Instead of 40 seconds of drop D tuning, growls, and blast beats, the Mad Chick Magnets bring out a more melodic side to punk while keeping an equally strong message. Catchy hooks on songs like Nodding Off help those messages become memorable. They sometimes dive into relatable topics such as heartbreak, which can be heard on Allie In The Alley. Both songs are on their debut album Filthy Animal.
