PROKOFIEV: Peter and the Wolf
For nine decades, kids have discovered the symphony orchestra through Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, the tale of a young boy who captures a menacing wolf with the help of his animal friends. Music and narration combine to vividly illustrate the adventure—from the chirping bird (played by the flute), to the grumbling grandfather (bassoon), to Peter’s own heroic melody singing out in the strings. It’s the perfect way to nurture a love of orchestral music in young listeners!
Family Series concerts are roughly 60 minutes—perfect for wiggly bodies under 10—and include hands-on pre-concert activities in the lobby.
