About
ILLUMINATE is a free, public festival in downtown Salt Lake City that celebrates the intersection of art, light, and creative technology. The event transforms city streets and public spaces into an immersive canvas, featuring large-scale light installations, projection mapping, interactive STEAM experiences, live performances, and drone shows. Attendees can walk through illuminated exhibits, enjoy music, encounter performers, engage with hands-on technology, and experience unique art that combines science and creativity.
The event takes place over two nights and is produced by Utah Arts Alliance. It is open to all ages.
Highlights include:
- The Light Museum, showcasing works by local and regional artists throughout Library Square and along 200 East.
- The Artist Night Market, where visitors can shop for unique pieces created by independent artists and makers.
- Live music and performances, from Taiko drummers and DJs to movement-based acts.
- Projection mapping on the Salt Lake City Public Library, featuring locally designed digital art.
- Drone shows that light up the night sky with dynamic visuals.
Artist, music, and performance applications are open until September 30, 2026. The festival invites installation artists, light artists, creative technologists, performers, and musicians to participate.
The Drone Show is scheduled to start at 9:45 pm during the festival.
