About
Panchiko’s story began in Nottingham in the late ’90s, when four teenage friends combined Britpop influences with home recording, video games, and anime to create their debut album, D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L. After gaining a little momentum, the band eventually faded into obscurity—until a fan discovered a copy of the album in a local charity shop 16 years later, setting off an online search that ultimately tracked down the group and sparked their reunion. Since then, Panchiko have toured the world and released Failed at Math(s) (2023) and Ginkgo (2025), evolving from a long-lost cult discovery into a full-time band.
Their third album since reuniting, Chimera, out April 9, 2027, finds the band looking forward rather than backward. The songs move between pensive balladry and bounding hip-hop, racing shoegaze and springtime pop, with contributions from friends including billy woods, Mei Semones, Korea Girl, Abby Sage, Cotillon, Mirra Maze, Hugh Pascall, and Clarion’s Saya Oliva. Across these shifting sounds, Chimera finds Panchiko exploring who they want to become, balancing the excitement of the present with the uncertainty about what lies ahead. It’s a record that embraces new possibilities while holding onto the unconventional spirit that started it all.
Panchiko is Andy Wright (keyboardist and producer), Owain Davies (vocalist and guitarist), and Shaun Ferreday (bassist), alongside Robert Harris (guitarist) and Jon Nellen (drummer).
