Led by choreographer Hervé Koubi, Compagnie Hervé Koubi brings Sol Invictus to Salt Lake City for the first time. Named after the “invincible sun” deity of Ancient Rome, the work is a fusion of contemporary movement, capoeira, and urban dance.
A former contemporary dancer with leading European choreographers, Koubi founded his company in 2000 to explore how movement connects cultures across generations. Influenced by a return to his Algerian roots and his engagement with urban dance, his work blends contemporary, street, and traditional forms. In collaboration with dancer and choreographer Fayçal Hamlat, Koubi continues to develop an inclusive, boundary-crossing approach to ballet grounded in heritage and innovation.
Compagnie Hervé Koubi has toured across Europe, North America, and other major global stages.
