Explore the expressive possibilities of clay in Pottery Decorations: Slip Trailing, a hands-on class focused on the art of drawing and embellishing surfaces with liquid clay. Students will learn how to use slip trailers to create lines, patterns, and textures that add depth and personality to their work. Techniques will include line control, layering, and decorative design approaches suitable for a variety of styles.
Clay tiles will be provided for guided practice during class, making it easy to experiment and build confidence with the technique. Students are also welcome to bring their own pottery to decorate, as long as pieces are in a leather-hard stage and made from cone 5/6 clay. Please note that outside clay cannot be fired at the studio. Cone 5/6 clay is available for purchase on-site for those who need materials.
This class is suitable for beginners curious about surface decoration as well as more experienced ceramicists looking to expand their decorative toolkit.
