Everything in Jon McLaughlin’s life makes its way into his music, whether he’s conscious of it or not. Raised in Indiana and based in Nashville, he brings his experiences and beliefs into each song, something that is especially true now that he’s the father of two young girls.
Jon released his debut album, Indiana, in 2007 on Island Def Jam. He’s released six full-lengths since then and revealed an evolution in both his piano playing and singing. He’s played shows with Billy Joel, Kelly Clarkson and Adele, collaborated with Sara Bareilles, co-written with Demi Lovato, and performed at the Academy Awards in 2008.
His album Like Us dropped in October 2015 via Razor & Tie. He released a Christmas EP, Red & Green, in 2017. In November 2018 he released Angst & Grace, which features "Still My Girl," written for his youngest daughter. Also in 2018 he started a Dueling Pianos video series with guest artists performing mashups of new arrangements.
In Fall 2019 Jon released an instrumental piano album titled MOOD. MOOD II followed in May 2020. He wrapped up 2020 with the EP Christmas Time and then released the full-length All The Things I Say To Myself, featuring "A Breakup Song" and "Outta My Head."
In Fall 2022 he toured with his band to celebrate the 15-year anniversary of Indiana, which was remastered and re-released on vinyl, spotlighting a new a cappella version of "Indiana" featuring Straight No Chaser and never-before-released B-sides.
In July 2023 Jon released the single "The Only One" and later that year released MOOD III. In 2024 he toured across the U.S. for a 36-city Coast To Coast Tour, culminating in the second installment of his annual Home For The Holidays show at The Palladium in Carmel, Indiana. He released the MOOD instrumental album MOOD Christmas in 2025.
His newest album, Scenarios (October 2025), features brand-new songs that showcase his storytelling and piano-driven sound. This holiday season, Jon brings his Home For The Holidays tour—featuring Morgan James, Kris Allen, David Davis, and T.3—to 13 U.S. cities after two sold-out years in Carmel, IN.
As with everything he does, Jon’s goal is to create connections. He wants to translate his experiences and ideas into music that reaches fans everywhere. His passion for music and playing is evident in each note he plays.
