About

Costumed Model Figure Drawing/Painting: “Halloween Themed Model”
Observational Art Practice

Thursday, October 15, 6:30–9:00 pm. $16. Taught by Charis.

Come practice drawing and painting from real life with a lovely cosplayed woodland fairy model! We’ll vibe out with good music as we draw and/or paint in our wonderful creative community.

Supplies are included: use of Charis’s pencils, drawing paper, acrylic paints and brushes, plus one medium-sized canvas per participant. You’re also welcome to bring your own supplies, including sketchbook, paper, or canvas and drawing materials, charcoal, watercolor, gouache, acrylics, or oils with safflower or linseed oil mediums. Anything other than smelly solvents is welcome! Table easels will be provided, so there’s no need to bring your own. This is a mostly uninstructed workshop, but Charis will be on hand to help with setup and answer questions.

Register by 10 pm the night before to guarantee a spot. After that, extra spots will be available only if there are extra canvases, on a first-come, first-served basis. The class may be canceled if there are no sign-ups the night before.

Minimum class size is 4 students. If the class does not reach the minimum, it may be canceled. Notice will be given by email 12 hours in advance, and anyone who has signed up will be refunded.

Cancellations can be made up to 7 days in advance. Register online, in store, or by phone at 801-399-2787. Questions? Email Charis at [email protected].

Third-party ticket sales are considered fraudulent and will not be valid. Ticket or registration transfers can be handled by the Local Artisan Collective once the original purchase is verified.

Charis holds a BFA in Illustration from ArtCenter College of Design near Los Angeles, where she studied entertainment design, painting, illustration, and design. She interned at Film Roman after graduating and has created storyboards for indie film projects and exhibited her art in major US cities. After moving to Hawaii with her husband, who was stationed there with the Navy, she taught art classes on multiple bases and at a Waikiki Beach hotel. She spent almost a decade on Oahu, where freediving and island life inspired her personal paintings. She and her family moved to Utah in 2020 and now live in Syracuse. She teaches realistic and stylized drawing and painting in acrylics, gouache, and oils.
