Open Studio: Tape Paintings

Looking for a place to meet fellow artists and learn new skills in Salt Lake City? Open studio workshops at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts invite you to explore your artistic potential and the galleries. Feel free to bring your own sketchbook or current project to work on among new friends.

The UMFA is home to a broad collection of contemporary art, including Hard-edge paintings by Gene Davis and Ilya Bolotowsky. These artists are known for abstract works that emphasize color and pattern.

In this workshop you'll explore examples of Hard-edge painting in the UMFA galleries, then use tape and acrylic paint on canvas to try the technique yourself.

• All levels of experience are welcome.
