About
Opening reception for "Flowerhood Chapter of Life," photos by Lisa Zamora.
Exhibit runs from May 29–July 3.
Artist's Statement
The Flowerhood Chapter of Life Photomontage Series was created when I was a first-time mom, transitioning into my new role. Each page in the chapter contains at least one blooming flower, ready to shed its beautiful petals and give of herself to produce and nourish offspring; an image captured during nocturnal newborn nurturing; and an image of a personally meaningful spot of ground, which represents groundedness, Mother Nature's support, and the well-trodden path walked by countless mothers before me.
Artist's Bio
With a background rooted in the performing arts, Lisa Zamora, MFA, is an emerging visual artist who is taking her interpretation of the world from the fleeting movements to enduring forms. Focusing her work on botanical imagery supported by a meaningful and over-processed background, Lisa creates visual metaphors that feel both familiar and a little unexpected.
Lisa's works have been included in exhibitions in California, Utah, Washington DC, and Wyoming. Her photography has been recognized with local and national awards.
When not deep in digital layers or capturing images at improbable angles, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family, experiencing community events, and remembering to literally and artistically stop and smell the roses.
